Our client, SPM Financial, is a highly successful and reputable boutique financial services firm that specializes in personal and corporate financial planning, investment management, group insurance, and estate planning for Canadians. Their team is comprised of eleven Financial Advisors, including five principal partners, and backed by a professional team of administrators and managers who each have specialized skills in specific product lines. On their behalf, we are currently searching for a skilled Group Benefits Specialist to join their team.
Position Overview
- Plan, organize, and account for the timely preparation and completion of new business cases and client renewals in Group Benefits and Group Retirement.
- Provide best in class service to group benefits and group retirement clients, investigating and responding to issues and concerns brought forward from Plan Administrators and their employees.
- Work closely with insurance carriers and Advisors/sales to ensure new group business is priced and quoted accurately and efficiently and fosters seamless transitions from sales through to successful delivery.
- Ensure all employee and plan information is accurate and up to date on the SPM Benefits client database and works with insurance carriers and clients to provide updates to group plans.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education related to business, financial planning, insurance or a related discipline.
- Ideally you have or are working towards your CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist), GBA (Group Benefits Associate) or RPA (Retirement Plans Associate) certifications.
- Previous experience in a benefits specialist role, with preference given to those with group benefits expertise.
- High level of knowledge of benefits/group benefits from quoting to renewal to client service.
- Familiar with the PBA (Pension Benefits Act) and provincial plan legislation.
- Demonstrated intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and aptitude for learning new technology systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Successful candidates, as a condition of job offer, will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal background check and credit check.
